After being found guilty of violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s Women’s Asia Cup Group A match versus Hong Kong in Dubai on September 7, 2026, batter Gull Feroza of Pakistan was fined 10% of her match fee. She was given out LBW to Hong Kong spinner Kary Chan early in Pakistan’s innings, which prompted the incident.
The 27-year-old used her bat to imply that she thought she had edged the ball, indicating that she had made contact with the pitch before it hit her pad. The match officials documented the incident, which led to an extra demerit point.
The event happened during Pakistan’s innings’ fifth over. Gull indicated that the ball had taken an edge by pointing to her bat in response to being declared leg-before wicket. She was accused by third umpire Shivani Mishra, fourth umpire Shathira Jakir, and on-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana.
The issue was settled without a formal hearing after match referee Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel accepted Gull’s admission of the offence and her consent to the suggested punishment. Feroza’s most recent punishment comes after an earlier Level 1 violation during the same disciplinary period. She was punished during Pakistan’s 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match against Australia because her response to her dismissal led to another Code of Conduct infraction.
Article 2.2, which addresses the misuse of cricket gear, apparel, ground equipment, fixtures, and fittings during an international match, applied to the incident. Feroza tossed her bat and gloves violently close to the team dugout after being removed in the second over of Pakistan’s innings.
She now has two points on her disciplinary record for the 24 months due to the most recent demerit point. According to ICC regulations, a suspension is imposed upon accumulating four demerit points; the duration of the ban is contingent upon the format of the subsequent international match.
Depending on which format comes first, a player who reaches that criterion may be banned for one Test, two ODIs, or two T20Is. Because of the incident against Hong Kong, Feroza is still two demerit points short of the suspension threshold.
