Following Pakistan’s Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 match versus Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a fan made a special request to head coach Wahab Riaz. Wahab spoke with the supporters and expressed gratitude for their support following Pakistan’s victory, which guaranteed their spot in the tournament’s semifinals.
Fans noticed a supporter’s unique request to the Pakistan head coach as Wahab was passing by the advertising hoardings. The fan informed Wahab that while he wanted Pakistan to defeat India, he did not desire the prize.
In the viral video on X, the fan can be heard saying, “Wahab sahab, India par koshish karein. Wahab bhai, India ko beat karna hai humne. Humein (Asia Cup) trophy nahi chahiye, India ko humne harana hai. India ko nahi chhodna.”
The appeal was made in the wake of Pakistan’s crushing group stage loss to India. Pakistan’s lowest-ever total in women’s Twenty20 Internationals was 55 runs in 18.1 overs on September 5, 2026, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India won by seven wickets after chasing the 56-run mark in 8.4 overs. In addition, it marked Pakistan’s 200th women’s Twenty20 International.
Pakistan and India can now only play each other in the Women’s Asia Cup final. India will play either Bangladesh or the United Arab Emirates in the other last-four match, while Pakistan will play Sri Lanka in the semifinals.
India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets earlier in the competition. India proved they were the championship favourites by chasing down the target in 8.3 overs after dismissing Pakistan for just 55. Earlier in the competition, during Pakistan’s group-stage match against India, skipper Fatima Sana courted controversy. For violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, Sana received a demerit point and a punishment equal to 10% of her match fee.
