Bangladesh vs Afghanistan One-Off Test Set for Abu Dhabi in October

On Wednesday, it was announced that Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium will host the single Test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and alongside Sharjah Cricket Stadium, these venues will also serve as the sites for the tri-series featuring the two teams and Zimbabwe, marking the locations for Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of the UAE.

Bangladesh plans to arrive in the UAE earlier than scheduled. The first group of the Test squad is scheduled to fly to Dubai on October 1 and will compete in a two-day preparatory match against the UAE on October 4 and 5. Another group, currently competing for Bangladesh at the Asian Games in Japan, will join the touring team on October 6, after which the complete squad will travel to Abu Dhabi ahead of the Test.

After the Test, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will join Zimbabwe in a tri-series, with Bangladesh taking on Zimbabwe in the first match on October 17 in Abu Dhabi. The Tigers will face Afghanistan on October 21 in Sharjah. The three-team ODI series will take place from October 17 to 23, 2026, with games being played at both Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The BCB announcement confirmed that every match in the tournament will take place under floodlights.

The tri-series employs a single-leg round-robin format during the group stage. Each of the three teams faces the other two once, resulting in two group matches for every side before the standings are finalized. The two highest-ranked teams from the single-leg tournament will advance to the final, set for October 23 in Sharjah. Every match in the tri-series will take place under floodlights.
