India ODI World Cup 2027 Schedule, IND vs AUS to Open Campaign

India are scheduled to begin their 2027 ODI World Cup campaign in South Africa against Australia on October 7 of the following year, in a repeat of the 2023 final, as the International Cricket Council ( ICC) released the tournament schedule in Cape Town on Thursday, one year before the quadrennial event. The tournament begins on October 2. India are in Group A of the tournament, along with Pakistan, Australia, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan. The final team in the group will be determined by the end of the World Cup League.

The 14th Cricket World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. India will join Group A and start their campaign in the second round of the tournament, which features 12 teams divided into two groups. In this stage of the event, India are placed in the same group as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia, Zimbabwe, and a team that qualified through the Super Series. India must finish in the top three of their group to advance to the Super 7s stage before the semi-finals.

The Men in Blue will open their tournament campaign against Australia, who defeated them in the 2023 finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2027, in Cape Town, marking the inaugural group-stage fixture of the 14-team tournament.

The highly anticipated match against Pakistan is scheduled for October 10 in Johannesburg, with a subsequent game against Afghanistan in Tshwane on October 14. India will next face a qualifier from the Super Series on October 17 in Bloemfontein, with their last group-stage match set against Zimbabwe in Victoria Falls on October 24.
