India’s Bangladesh Tour Takes Fresh Turn as Tamim Iqbal Reveals Latest Update

India’s Bangladesh Tour Takes Fresh Turn as Tamim Iqbal Reveals Latest Update

India’s trip to Bangladesh, which was originally scheduled for August 2025, is still shrouded in uncertainty. The white-ball tour is in limbo due to a number of factors, including schedule conflicts, international obligations, and strained diplomatic ties between the two countries, but Tamim Iqbal, head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), is optimistic.

On August 31, Tamim Iqbal, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), revealed that both cricket boards are actively negotiating India’s tour of Bangladesh and that he is still optimistic that the series will go. The ideal timeframe for the task is January 2027, and the proposed tour consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.

According to Tamim, the BCB and BCCI are still in talks to host three ODIs and three T20Is for India. However, given that India will play Afghanistan in three Twenty20 Internationals and as many One-Day Internationals later this month, the tour appears to be off the table for the time being.

Although the BCCI had not yet made a public announcement, the BCB had officially announced the tour on January 2, 2026. The tour was originally scheduled for August 2025 but was later rescheduled for September 2026. This was the tour’s first postponement.

According to Cricbuzz, Amim stated on Monday, “All I can tell you is that both the cricket boards are in discussion. It is a fruitful talk, and I am hopeful this will happen.”

After Bangladesh declined to play their 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches in India earlier this year due to security concerns, ties between the BCCI and BCB deteriorated. This happened after the BCCI ordered the Kolkata Knight Riders to remove Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 roster.

It seems that the outreach was successful. A Cricinfo report stated that BCB received a favourable reaction from BCCI; however, it also mentioned that the visit might happen in early 2027 instead of September 2026. This is at odds with the official tour records’ September 1–13, 2026 slot, and neither board has made the current schedule public. No formal joint announcement confirming the precise dates has been issued as of August 31, 2026.
