In order to accommodate spectators, the BCCI is actively investigating the potential of relocating the Duleep Trophy 2026–27 final from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Initially, the final was scheduled to take place at the CoE from September 6–10, with no public attendance.
On Sunday, August 23, the 2026–2027 Indian domestic season will begin with the Duleep Trophy. The Centre of Excellence is the venue for the quarterfinals and semifinals, where games are held behind closed doors. In order to allow fans to see the title match live, the BCCI is currently searching for a different location for the final.
Large gatherings at the CoE campus are now prohibited by government regulations. The public’s access to the event during its earlier rounds has been restricted because only close family members or associates of team members are allowed to attend matches held within the facility.
Six zonal teams will compete in the Duleep Trophy 2026–27 competition, which begins on August 23. The CoE in Bengaluru will host the quarterfinals and semifinals, but the BCCI is currently looking at other locations for the final so that spectators can watch the match in person.
After making it to the previous edition’s final, Central Zone and South Zone have guaranteed direct spots in the semifinals. In the previous season’s final, Central Zone, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, won the championship by defeating South Zone by six wickets.
A definitive decision on the relocation of the Duleep Trophy final from the CoE has not yet been made by the BCCI. In order to decide which location, if any, can satisfy the logistical and legal conditions required to host the game with spectators, the board is still in talks with the TNCA and the KSCA.
According to the KSCA, any event that draws more than 5,000 fans to Chinnaswamy Stadium must adhere to the court-mandated procedures established following the stampede incident of the previous year. Before approving a venue change, the BCCI must take these responsibilities into account.
