When he reached three figures, Jurel lifted his bat and showed off a tattoo on his left forearm that read “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” in Devanagari. At that point, India’s total in 135.4 overs was 482/8.
Jurel removed his helmet, punched the air, and enjoyed the applause before exposing the tattoo. On the other end, Siraj was waiting. Despite India being eight wickets behind, the fast bowler had stayed with Jurel, blocking and defending as his partner got closer to the milestone. After giving each other a big hug, Siraj was one of the first to congratulate Jurel.
