No Arjun Tendulkar! Goa Announce 16-Member Squad for 2026-27 Ranji Trophy

Goa’s Ranji Trophy team for the 2026–27 competition does not include bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar, the son of renowned Indian batter and former skipper Sachin Tendulkar. Goa will play Baroda in their first Elite Group A match of the 2017 Ranji Trophy season at Bhausaheb Bandodkar Ground in Goa on October 11.

The 27-year-old Tendulkar is the son of legendary cricket player Sachin Tendulkar. He had just finished 50 wickets for Goa in first-class cricket, but his exclusion from this team comes after he skipped Goa’s tour of Oman. He last played for the state team against Kerala in the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy at Porvorim.

He also played for Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. On October 11, 2026, at Panaji, Goa will play Baroda in Elite Group A to begin their 2026–2027 Ranji Trophy season. The tournament’s 92nd edition will take place from October 11, 2026, to March 3, 2027.

This season, Goa will be captained by Abhinav Tejrana in the Ranji Trophy. Other members of the team include Suyash Prabhudesai and Lalit Yadav, a former Delhi player. Prabhudesai had previously represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.

Arjun Tendulkar, a 27-year-old IPL player for the Lucknow Super Giants, last participated in a Ranji Trophy match for Goa versus Kerala in Porvorim between January 29 and February 1, 2026. He scored 24 runs at No. 10 in the second innings and 36 runs at No. 8 in the first innings in that match. Arjun did not bowl in the second innings after finishing the first innings with figures of 2 for 109 in 28 overs.

Since joining the state team prior to the 2022–2023 Ranji Trophy season, Arjun Tendulkar has been a consistent member of Goa’s domestic cricket team. His contribution to the team’s bowling attack over those seasons was highlighted by his recent achievement of 50 first-class wickets for Goa.

Given that milestone, his exclusion from the 2026–27 squad is noteworthy. He also missed Goa’s visit to Oman. No injury has been proven to be the cause of his exclusion, and the selectors have not provided a public explanation.
