India’s planned cricket visit to Bangladesh may be further postponed, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal, who stated that the BCB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are still in talks on the series, according to Cricinfo.
The event was originally planned for August 2025; however, it was later rescheduled for September 2026. A six-match schedule including three ODIs and three T20Is divided between Dhaka and Chattogram was confirmed by the BCB in a formal announcement in January 2026. According to that timetable, the T20Is will take place on September 9, 12, and 13, 2026, after the ODIs on September 1, 3, and 6, 2026. However, the BCCI has never made a public remark regarding the tour.
The September 2026 timeframe is under pressure due to two overlapping difficulties. The BCB has announced the Game Development Trophy, an age-group competition that will take place from August 28 to September 9, 2026, at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The first four games of the India series as they are currently planned, fall within that window.
After Bangladeshi all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Kolkata Knight Riders, ties between the two cricket boards deteriorated. The BCB then decided not to send a squad to the T20 World Cup, which India was co-hosting, under the direction of Aminul Islam. But after Tamim’s recent trip to India, where he visited the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru earlier this month after taking over as BCB president, relations are said to have improved.
Tamim stated during the pre-age-group tournament press conference, “Both boards remain in discussion about the India series. The dates may be shifted here or there. This tournament is being held in Mirpur, but it can be shifted to the Basundhara ground in two minutes. If the India series is locked and fixed, we will schedule it accordingly.”
